Natives of St. Louis MO, Joseph Petersen (interventionist) and Carroll Petersen CADC, NCACII, married over 25 years ago and brought their blended families and love of recovery to Mobile, Alabama. Carroll, recovering AL-Anon of over 40 years and mother of five and Joe, recovering alcoholic of 30 years, father of eight.
Both worked for Charter Pines in the early 80's. Carroll the Family Therapist and Joe an Adolescent Counselor. Over the years they have been associated with Bradford, The Friary, and Twelve Oaks, developing outpatient treatment programs for dependencies. They initiated the first "Co-dependency" programs for family members affected by chemical dependency.
In 1995, due to changes and confusion in the treatment industry Recovery Resources was born. The concept was created for WORKSHOPS vs TREATMENT to address the underlying issues driving addictions.
Jim Ware, MS, CADC, QSAP, BRI-II, their son, officially joined Recovery Resources in 1999. Jim's professional experience in the field of addiction dates back to 1985. He has worked for 2 prominent treatment centers, one in St. Louis MO and the other in Birmingham, AL. His own recovery, particularly from ACOA (Adult Children of Alcholics) issues, completes the recovery experience at Recovery Resources. He is a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional for the Department of Transportation, a Board Registered Interventionist Level II, and a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor. He has Masters Degree from the University of South Alabama. Jim is also a lecturer and trainer with the Mobile Area of Addictive Diseases (MACAD).
