FP young familyRecovery Resources believes that everyone at any given time can become dysfunctional or “stuck” in their life. Living in this fast-pace-culture with disengaged communities, ineffective schools, work-related burdens and estranged or non-communicative relationships, can be overwhelming and stressful by itself.

“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them." Henry David Thoreau

Recovery Resources believes the common condition known as “codependency” is at the root cause of these difficulties. Codependency has become a curious, perplexing and intriguing term that everyone can relate to, but cannot quite define.

All the great disciplines in philosophy psychology, theology and medicine struggles to explain, let alone treat, this phenomenon or really epidemic.

What we do know is, over time, people begin to slowly lose themselves. A sense of purpose and meaning disappears from one’s life. The feelings of resentment, frustration, regret, and despair become a constant condition.

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing" Mother Teresa

Attempts to cope with these feelings are futile. In fact, many of the attempts can develop into a wide rage of addictions or compulsive behaviors that in themselves become a primary problem.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” and  “Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.”   Albert Einstein

Recovery Resources simply defines codependency as a condition that develops when you lose yourself in any important relationship. It is the underlying condition for all destructive behaviors. In reality, the destructive behaviors are your clue that something isn’t okay.

"What you are aware of you are in control of; what you are not aware of is in control of you."  Anthony de Mello, Jesuit Priest

"Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand." Chinese Proverb
